Those nasty mosquitos can drive any sane person insane. And it really is not a good idea to spray a bunch of chemicals on your skin to solve the problem. If you use over the counter bug spray, you probably know the main ingredient is N,N-diethyl-3-methylbenzamide or better known as DEET.
DEET is a pesticide used to kill insects, and you want that on your skin? Did you know, that DEET sprays, can melt plastic bags and fishing lines? There has been research that has found, DEET can impair cell functions in the brain. They have also found long exposure to DEET can cause eye and skin irration, memory loss, headaches, weakness, fatigue, muscle/joint pain, nausea, tremors and shortness of breath. Symptoms can appear months or even years after use.
Children are more susceptible than adults to brain changes caused by DEET, because their skin more readily absorbs the chemical, and their still developing nervous systems are potentially more affected. Never, ever, ever use any DEET product on infants. Lets look at some natural bug repellants:

Lemongrass Oil- Lemongrass is an herb widely cultivated in the tropics and subtropics, long appreciated to repel insects, and it has an amazing scent.(If you have sensitivity to lemongrass, DO NOT USE)
Peppermint Oil-It has been discovered that not only does peppermint repel adult mosquitos, it kills the larvae. And has a nice scent also.
Vanillin- Vanillin(the real deal, not imitation vanilla) is also used to repel bugs and mosquitos.
