Acupuncture

Abundant Health, Grand Junction offers Acupuncture! Simply stated, acupuncture, is a health science which is used to successfully treat both pain and dysfunction in the body.  Acupuncture has its roots deeply planted in China.  In fact, authorities agree the science is between 5000 and 7000 years old.  Its use spread throughout ancient Egypt, the Middle East, the Roman Empire and later into Western Europe as merchants and missionaries to China told of the amazing discoveries the people of the orient had developed.

Acupuncture did not become known on a national level in the U. S. until 1971 when diplomatic relations between China and America were relaxed. Our acupuncturist, Dr. Shalona McFarland, uses acupuncture as the basis of what are called meridians, which are energy channels that run throughout the body.  They literally run from head to toe.  We are basically gigantic batteries.  And just like a battery, if the connection isn’t good, whatever the battery is in does not work.  Well, when the meridians become “disconnected”, symptoms start to appear such as pain, discomfort, arthritis, dizziness, fatigue, muscle soreness, depression and much more.  The way to “reconnect” these meridians, is to place acupuncture needles in specific points.  There are over 3000 acupuncture points in the body and over 300 in the ear alone.  By placing these needles in specific places, it helps the meridians to rejuvenate and to start allowing the body to heal itself.
