ALL NATURAL ESSENTIAL OIL SPRAYS FOR KIDS!
Essential oil sprays are great for kids because you know they are all natural and non-toxic. Let face it, many products on store shelf contain ingredients that none of us want on our children. As we become more educated on natural health choices, it is almost a no-brainer to look to essential oils for our everyday issues, especial for our children.
These are tried and true recipes that my children have used. I especially love the Monster in the Closet spray (aka Bed Bug Spray), I gave this one to my youngest child that is afraid of bugs and he loves spraying it all over his room to keep them out!
Essential oil sprays are a great way to use oils because they are easy to make, use and take. There are, of course, many spray bottles that you can fill with all kinds of goodness, but the spray bottles you will absolutely need if you have children are:
1) Diaper Rash Spray
One of my good friends, Sarah Titus, has discovered an amazing spray that will replace your diaper rash cream. She simply uses 20 drops of doTerra Balance essential oil blend in a 2 oz glass spray bottle filled with water. Spraying a diaper rash treatment on is much more effective and less hurtful for the child than using a cream. Not only that, but you are using less chemicals on your child. What could be better than that?
2) Head Lice Prevention
If your children are in school, head lice is bound to go around. When it does, keep your child’s hair pinned up as best as you can and spray the head lice spray on their head, backpack, jacket, and any other material item they are taking or using at school. The recipe is 5 drops of Melaleuca oil, 5 drops of Eucalyptus oil, and 5 drops of Rosemary oil in a 2 oz glass spray bottle filled with water. Spray on liberally to prevent the little beasts from attaching to your child and their things.
3) Owie Spray
If you have children, it’s inevitable that they get hurt. If it is a cut, a bruise, whatever the case may be, the Owie Spray will be most effective. The recipe is 5 drops of Myrrh oil, 5 drops of Frankincense oil, 5 drops of Lavender oil, and 5 drops of Helichrysum oil in a 2 oz glass spray bottle filled with water. It will not burn or sting the child to spray on an open sore.
4) Bed Bugs Spray
This could also be called “Monster in The Closet Spray”. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “Sleep tight; don’t let the bed bugs bite.” Well, it turns out there really ARE bed bugs and it’s super easy for kids to bring them home from school. This spray will kill them. The recipe is 5 drops of Clove oil, 5 drops of Peppermint oil, 5 drops of Lemongrass oil, and 5 drops Frankincense oil in a 2 oz glass spray bottle filled with water. Spray on bed linens, sheets, clothes liberally to detour these bad bugs from sticking around.
I love how easy that these sprays are to make, so simple a child could even make them. When I make a natural spray recipes, here is what I like to do. First, I take a pinch of Epsom salt and add it to the bottom of my spray bottle. Then, I place my oils in the bottle and give them time to absorb. Lastly, I add distilled (or filtered) water to fill the rest of the bottle leaving room for the spray top.
What I love most about these sprays is that I can give the bottles to my children to use and know they will be safe with the mixture. You could also make these recipes for friends and family, they make great DIY gifts. Just add cute labels & ribbons and you are all set!
